My name is Aria. I’m the founder of jadewell, and I created this company because of my partner, Ben.
Ben lives with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), a connective tissue disorder that cascades into dozens of symptoms. Chronic pain, fatigue, digestive problems, muscle spasms, migraines, etc. etc. Getting that diagnosis took four years. Before anyone figured out it was hEDS, he was told it was Crohn’s and treated for a disease he didn’t have. He saw a dozen different specialists for years. Today he takes more than ten prescriptions a day, and most of them manage a symptom without ever touching why it keeps happening nor help relieve.
Here’s mine. I grew up with Chinese Herbal Medicine as a normal part of life. My mom brewed herbal drinks that changed with the seasons, and I grew up feeling nourished and steady in a way I didn’t think about until much later. Then, I studied biopsychology at college and completed research at The Jackson Laboratory, Washington University in St. Louis, and Tufts University. I worked as a nursing assistant on the intensive care unit floor at Boston Medical Center and a half dozen senior living facilities. I have published research in inflammation, originally intending to go to medical school and pursue a physician-scientist career.
Those two worlds sat side by side in me and never touched, until nothing in Ben’s chart was working and I asked him to try the Chinese Herbal Medicine I grew up with. He was open to it. What had stopped him for years was how expensive it was.
Watching what it did for him changed the direction of my life. Despite four years of elimination diets, his digestion on the herbs settled within weeks. The migraines that painkillers could only mute stopped happening so frequently. His experience is his own, and it showed me what it looks like when someone finally has every option on the table, and I stopped wanting to become a doctor. I wanted to improve what people living with chronic conditions can access right now.

Hui is a licensed practitioner who graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture. Hui specializes in fertility, chronic pain, and stress relief through a blend of traditional and modern techniques. She is a trained and licensed herbalist qualified to approve Chinese Herbal Medicine formulas that support deep internal healing and balance.
